Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about how we work, our technology, and what to expect from a project.

What technologies and platforms do you use?

We favour established technologies with strong support histories — PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as foundations, with frameworks like Laravel, Vue JS, and Tailwind CSS. For content management we specialise in WordPress (over 1000 websites delivered) and custom Laravel-based systems. We host on Amazon Web Services with all data facilities in Australia.

What is your approach to Discovery?

Discovery involves four stages: strategic objectives (workshops on resourcing, budgets, and organisational goals), policies and governance (understanding workflows and responsibilities), solution design (hosting, security, e-commerce, reporting), and risk management (identifying unknowns and building contingencies). Each stage is documented with decisions, deliverables, timelines, and budgets.

How do you handle changes to scope during a project?

A change register is maintained throughout every project and reviewed in regular work-in-progress meetings. We cover budget and timeline impacts, priority decisions, and progress on any change requests that need further research.

What happens if a project risks missing a deadline or going over budget?

We build in contingency budgets and scope unknowns during onboarding, and provide fixed-cost pricing with defined hourly parameters. If issues arise, we discuss alternative milestones — reducing initial scope, staging releases, or researching alternative solutions.

How do you keep data secure and retained in Australia?

All of our servers are in Australia. Development work is performed on staging servers, and when developers need sensitive data locally, we use dummy data or assign local Sydney-based developers to handle it.

How do you ensure a website is user-friendly?

Three principles guide our approach. Keep it simple — avoid overcomplicating interfaces. Keep it universal — consider different devices, circumstances, and cultural contexts. Keep asking — prioritise continuous user feedback for iterative improvements.

Do you offer support outside of business hours?

Standard support runs 9am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday. After-hours availability can be arranged for planned events like live deployments. We also offer on-call resources, a monitored message bank for emergencies, and direct principal contact for critical ongoing issues.

Where are you based?

We operate from Sydney, NSW, Australia. Our team includes staff in multiple time zones, all maintaining Sydney-based working hours. Office hours are 9am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Do you have a sustainability policy?

We believe in leaving things better than we found them. Our commitments include promoting environmentally friendly habits, minimising our carbon footprint, responsible waste management, and supporting community environmental initiatives. We set realistic, incremental sustainability goals and review them regularly.

What is CRUD?

CRUD stands for Create, Read, Update, and Delete — the four basic actions you can perform on data. These operations form the foundation of content management systems like WordPress. Each operation often requires different permission levels, and the concept extends beyond websites to apps, databases, and tools like spreadsheets.
