# The new responsive design

Responsive solved multiple screens. Content is now hitting the same wall with multiple readers.

Responsive design solved the problem of multiple screens. Content is hitting the same wall with multiple readers.

One article now gets consumed six ways: directly on the page, summarised by ChatGPT, cited in a Perplexity answer, extracted into a newsletter, reformatted as a conversation, pulled into a comparison table. The "screens" are not devices any more. They are AI intermediaries reshaping your content for different people.

We have been testing this on our own articles. Paste them into an LLM, ask for the core argument in two sentences. If the summary misses the point, the structure was not clear enough — for the machine or for a human reading it directly.

The principles that make content machine-readable (named concepts, explicit claims, headings that describe rather than tease) are also the principles that make content readable full stop.

Still figuring out where "well structured" tips into "sterile." That line exists and we have crossed it a few times.
